blog.incremental.ie — Since jumping to a PageRank of 6, DotNetKicks.com has become increasingly attractive to spammers. For the past year or so I has been deleting the posts manually, there would maybe be one or two spam posts per day. In the past week the number of spam posts has jumped to about 60 per day.

It seems that we are still getting lots of manual spam. Why do these people bother when it just gets deleted?

We may have to introduce an approval process for new users.

Have yoy tried using ajax to submit new sites instead of postbacks?

I haven't tried AJAX posts but I'm not sure how it would help. It seems that the remaining spammers are submitting stories manually; they would have had a problem for a while with the visible Captcha that I added yesterday otherwise.

When they signup they use a valid email address, I think I will send them an automated email when they are banned.
