Nice to see them supporting this instead of letting it die once issues arise. I've seen lots of fledgling software abandoned once MS thinks it's too costly to fix the bugs.

Well, this is essentially an effort to bring Silverlight/WP7 more in-line with desktop .NET, with the Parallel Tasks API/Task Parallel Library. This consistency across frameworks and indeed even languages in .NET has been a worthy endeavour over the past several years, I think...
