Who did kick this article? It is basic and wrong. The smart findings are wrong! What if the method is inlined by the compiler. I suggested to the guy to try this smart programming findings on release code not debug. Are reviewers extinct?

I mostly agree with liviu in that this isn't *usually* necessary. While there are definitely a few occasions where it's useful (e.g., debugging), if you're using this, you're probably doing something wrong. And if you have a need for it, you probably wouldn't be kicking this story. Just my two cents, of course.
