Microsoft cracking down on community extensions

Microsoft released a tool called Microsoft Source Analyzer, or StyleCop. It analyzes source code for standards violations. It's a 1.0 release, so it doesn't do some things ... like have a published API for custom rules or MSBuild integration. So the community dug in and figured out how to do these things and now MS is firing off license-violation emails. Don't they get it? The community wants to use the product, but it's too limited ... these extensions help make it better.

Silverlight 2 Beta2 Released

Silverlight 2 Beta2 was released today. Silverlight 2 Beta2 supports a go-live license that allows you to start using and deploying Silverlight 2 for commercial applications. There will be some API changes between Beta2 and the final release, so you should expect that applications you write with Beta2 will need to make some updates when the final release comes out. But we think that these changes will be straight-forward and relatively easy, and that you can begin planning and starting commercial projects now.

Comprehensive Comparson of 7 Popular JavaScript/Ajax Frameworks

After four days of ASP.NET AJAX training with Stephen Walther I set out to learn more about my options in choosing a solution for a JavaScript/Ajax framework. If I realized days later I would be writing this comprehensive post on 7 of the most popular frameworks, I may have just went with the "Inny-Minny-Miney-Moe" method! I decided to share my research, analysis, links, resources, and personal grade for each of the frameworks compared - jQuery, YUI, Prototype, Dojo, MooTools, Ext JS, and Script.aculo.us. I put together a comparison matrix to illustrate where many of the frameworks differ...

Open source Project:DotNet Zip Library

The Microsoft .NET Framework {v2.0 v3.0 v3.5} includes base class libraries supporting compression within streams - both the Deflate and Gzip formats are supported. But the System.IO.Compression namespace provides streaming compression only - useful for communicating between cooperating parties but not directly useful for creating compressed archives, like .zip files.
