ADO .NET Entity Framework Vote of No Confidence

Over the past year, Microsoft and the Entity Framework team have received a tremendous amount of feedback from experts in entity-based applications and software architectures on the .NET platform. While Microsoft's announcement of its intention to provide framework support for entity architectures was received with enthusiasm, the Entity Framework itself has consistently proved to be cause for significant concern.

Using a Windows Service just to run a scheduled process is Wrong!

See how simple is to create a great user interface for you app

See how simple is to create a great user interface for your WPF or Silverlight application. You can simply use almost any vector drawing application (Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Inkscape, Visio, Autocad, Excel, Word, etc.) and then with the ViewerSvg or Paste2Xaml convert the drawing into XAML. Or even simpler, you can use one of the thousands vector images that are already available on the internet - see links.

There are also samples that demonstrates the power of vector images and how simple is to create a great effects with them.

It happens, sometimes due to lack of experience or education, or sometimes because business requirements were never analyzed properly or they changed.
DotNetKicks.com: Tag RSS feeds

I have just upgraded DotNetKicks.com to Subversion revision 125. The big addition is RSS feeds for tags.

Confirm GridView Deletes with the ModalPopupExtender

I was looking for good examples of how the ModalPopupExtender control could be used as a confirmation dialog. I was especially curious in seeing implementations where the popup is used to confirm deletes performed on rows of a GridView. I couldn't find any good samples so I figured I would take a shot at it ...

Dynamic type conversion in the nullable world

We all know the Convert.ChangeType() for changing a value from one (unknown) type to another (unknown) type at runtime, but this method doesn't handle nullables and enums very well.

What may seem a simple task isn't that simple after all. You have to differentiate nullables, value types and enums.
