LessThanDot goes live!
Something I've never understood. Why kick a blog post that is essentially the same thing as the kick itself? It wastes the time of the reader and only makes people say, "forget it".

Technology doesn't matter!
I read it. I'm just a crank today. Feel free to ignore me. :)

Technology doesn't matter!
I'm sorry, but I just have to disagree. I've worked with many a curmudgeon who shared the "technology doesn't matter" mantra and their abilities suffered dramatically as did their comprehension of new concepts when "technology" was necessitated by outside forces. They screamed "but it's the solution that matters" until they no longer had a job because they simply couldn't come up to speed with the technology that was suddenly required. I also think that what is being overlooked is the adaptation of newer (or current) technology can give rise to newer solutions and even opportunities for improvements and enhancements that both weren't possible years ago as well as were unknown until the new technology arrived. It's like an amputee having a peg leg and saying, "it gets me around, that's all that counts" and he misses out on things like running or walking without a limp because the new prosthetics weren't available when he got his peg leg and the cost to upgrade to the newest technology may then be prohibitive.
I just don't understand the blogger penchant for contrarian declarations of absolute "principles" that attempt to lead into some faux-deep examination of "why" in the attempt get get people to marvel and the pseudo-profundity and whisper, "Hmm...I've never quite thought about it like that, but he's right."

Get a free copy Visual Studio 2008 Pro - REALLY!
I attended the event Monday night in Alpharetta, GA. Be aware that there may be issues with the registration. One friend of mine had signed up but they couldn't find him on the list (which wasn't sorted, either). I had to find myself on the list just when the guy was trying to tell me it wasn't there. Fortunately my first name is long, so it stuck out. Another friend who didn't sign up was put on the waiting list when he got there (just like the first friend). But here's the good news. Every single person who was there got a copy (with the code to get the full version). After reading off the list, they said, "is there anyone who didn't get a disk?" so that's at least some good news. Also, you get a free T-shirt, and I can never have enough free T-Shirts. :)

FTP Must Die
I'll just have to disagree with this one, okaaayyy?
FTP is anything but perfect, and it certainly isn't "sexy" like many other technologies, but like HTTP, SMTP, etc. it's a proven and reliable technology that is readily available in any platform whatsoever. I happen to like FTP for that very reason. It's stable and standard.

Susonic Two Big Checkins
Might be useful if you at least put, "maker of ...." in the description.
Just a thought.

Another version of DotNetKicks?
I'm patently against any site that names itself based on a pun.
"You know, 'dote' like you're doting on someone, but for dot net. Get it? Dote Net? dotenet?"
It took me a couple times to get it, too. I was thinking "dotty-net? " It reminds me of That Thing You Do.
"It's like 'wonders' but with a one, like the number. one-ders. oneders."
"I get it. It looks like the oh-knee-ders"

Improve Your Blog's Reach With These 20 Essential Web Utilities
is there a way to "unkick" something? I realize that it's not all "nicey-nice" to say something like this, but one of the things I love about DotNetKicks is that it's very, very targeted. General SEO and blog promotion really doesn't fit here, IMHO.
