Dynamically Resize an IFrame According to its contents

problem with iframe is that you can't always predict the size of the content and eventually you'd end up with a scrollbar or even less convenient: a hidden part of the Iframe content

this is a straight forward, easy way to make sure that the IFrame is properly resized according to the contents of the page loaded inside the Iframe.

Back to Basics: Generics

Introduction

There are language features that are nothing more than syntactical sugar. For example, C#'s coalesce operator (??) is a short-handed and specialized if-else. Object initializers make it easier to set properties on a newly created objects. Some features though go beyond mere convenience and add real value. I know it seems like we constantly have to learn new things, while at the same time actually produce code to pay our bills. It can be hard to pick and choose what to learn and what can wait. Let me be straight up though: if you haven't mastered generics yet, you're starting to fall dangerously behind.

How much should I expect my end-user to know?

From a software support perspective, the question is, how much should I expect my end-user to know? If someone asks me a basic question about our product, then I answer it without hesitation. But what if someone asks me a basic programming question? For example, how to create a for-loop?

How to set up your own free VSLab-based Matlab/Mathematica replacement

VSLab has just been updated with full support for Visual Studio 2008 Shell and the F# CTP release. It has been a rough couple of weeks for the VSLab team as F# CTP changed a number of things and they have been working hard to put together a compatible release. In this article I talk about a bit about what exactly VSLab is and walk you through creating a free VSLab installation.

Generic Fiddling

I spent an hour yesterday playing with generics to get my chops up a little better. After reading Krzystof Cwalina's post on the layout of the generic collections, I came up with this little gem:
