It may be better ant it may be worse. Ankh is free, while VisualSVN is about $50. Ankh probably has more features and options, but in my opinion VisualSVN is easier to use. Also, because VisaulSVN actualy uses TortoiseSVN there is less overhead in using it if you are going to have TortoiseSVN on your system anyway. I think one of the best features of VisualSVN is the support it has for importing and getting entire solutions. If you set things up exactly as in this article, using web site projects among team members is really easy. I'm not entirely sure if Ankh supports this or not.
