IronPython Studio

IronPython Studio is a free full IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for the Python programming language. It is based on the existing IronPython example that is included in the VS SDK.
IronPython Studio is based on the Visual Studio 2008 Shell runtime (royalty free) and can be installed without requiring any version of Visual Studio.

ADO.NET performance improvements with the .NET Framework 2.0 SP1

With the release of Visual Studio 2008 and the .NET Framework 2.0 SP1, there are some bug fixes and improvements in ADO.NET (A list of the general fixes is at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945757)

We worked with the CLR team to get improvements like the thread pool improved scalability, and that was important for making sure our SqlReader performance is better in multithreaded scenarios (like your ASP.NET applications under load).

Jeremy hearts C# 3.0

Never let it be said that I can't say something nice about a Microsoft product. I'm not enthusiastic about VS2008 itself until ReSharper 4.0 is here and stable, but the new language features rock! I haven't even touched any of the LINQ dialects yet, but all those little features that Anders and co added to support LINQ are already making my life easier.

HowTo: SubSonic Introduction

Why Another SubSonic Introduction Blog Posting?:

In my ever growing quest for programming godliness, I've feel that its important to equip myself with all the tools that I can to get the job done. SubSonic is one of those ORM tools that can help save me/you A LOT of initial setup time when it comes to the DAL of the application. 3 tools come to mind when I think of DAL, NHibernate, SubSonic, and LINQ. I've tried NHibernate and frankly I wasn't impressed. I've read about LINQ but haven't had a chance to experiment with it. SubSonic was next on my list of "tools" to experiment with.

Screencast: Test-Driven Domain Model

This TDD screencast was created after having the same conversation over and over again. It boils down to the topic of whether people can actually write their unit tests before writing their code. With this screencast, I wanted to illustrate that it's not only possible, but that it's also highly productive (once you get the tooling right).
