I've been thinking about replacing the JSON serializer in my internal codebase for some time and finally put a little effort into allowing JSON.NET from James Newton King to be plugged into my Ajax framework as a replaceable engine.

Firebug 1.2 which works in Firefox 3 has been released. If you are doing any AJAX development (JavaScript, jQuery, etc) this tool is invaluable. Updating Firebug to work in FF3 took quite a bit of effort and now it it works again with many new improvements and features planned to for the next release.

If you are only ever running one ASP.NET application on a website this is not an issue. However, if you are running a site which may have an application at the root and other separate applications running in sub or virtual directories, then Settings inheritance could be a problem.

If you have downloaded the RTM version of SP1 for Visual Studio 2008, you may get an error when trying to debug a Web Site with a host header on IIS 6 or IIS 5.1. The error message reads: "Unable to start debugging on the web server. An authentication error occurred while communicating with the web server. Please see Help for assistance."

When ASP.NET 2.0 was released, Microsoft provided a new tab in IIS called "ASP.NET". At first this appears to be a welcome addition, and for development computers, it really is. The issue is this: The ASP.NET tab in IIS 5 and IIS 6 uses the aspnet_regiis.exe command in the background and, if used, will cause a full AppDomain recycle on the *entire server*.

As I mentioned, I'm using SubSonic with this project and more specifically, I've been using what will be SubSonic 2.1. I've been quite happy with the work Rob Conery and his team have done with SubSonic. For this project, I chose to go with the RepositoryRecord base class rather than ActiveRecord for my objects. My reasoning was that I end up using services to interact with the objects anyway, so I might as well reduce the "weight" of the objects. The services that I use add basic object caching as well as hide SubSonic integration. In order to facilitate caching RepositoryRecord items, I had to rewrite my CacheUtil class slightly:
