crazeegeekchick.com — First things first. I'm an application (middle tier) developer. My design skills while adequate, are not by any means what I'd like them to be. Like a good geek girl, I've been working on this. I've put together a list of very helpful CSS resources I've stumbled upon in my quest to improve my presentation layer skills. I thought I'd share them: read more...

mattberseth.com — While looking through the control templates for Silverlight 2's DataGrid, I noticed the DataGridColumnHeader defines a couple of StoryBoards that allow you to control how the headers are displayed as they pass through the three column states: {Sorted Ascending, Sorted Descending, Unsorted}. And without too much work you can override the default display and customize it to your liking. I took a crack at overriding these states to mimic the icons the awesome jquery tablesorter plugin uses - below is a sample table that shows how it turned out. Read on for the details (there really aren't too many) and don't forget to check out the live demo and download. read more...

pietschsoft.com — One option to do theming in ASP.NET MVC is to use the standard ASP.NET Theme functionality (App_Themes folder glory and all), but it just doesn't seem complete. Also, by doing that you don't get to generate completely custom HTML specific to each Theme. After all, the beauty of ASP.NET MVC is being able to completely control the HTML output of the application. So, I played around with things a bit and figured out how to create a custom ViewEngine that will allow you to create a seperate sub-folder within the Views folder for each Theme. This way you can have a completely different version of each View for each Theme, and maintain complete control over the HTML output on a per Theme basis. read more...
