gchandra.wordpress.com — In VS2005 .pdb files get generated in debug as well as in Release mode. This article explains how to stop .pdb files from getting generated.

I would think twice before doing this, because doing that would leave you out of sustaining data and you won't get any performance gains (build is already optimized)

So I still didn't understand why I won't delete them ??? .NET doesn't use it, build already optimized - why I need .pdb files ?
