Tricky programming concepts aren't tricky - what teachers get wrong  (Unpublished)

Jon shares with us his feelings on the use of subversive language such as "this next bit is tricky" in teaching, especially when teaching programming to students. While designed to make students pay attention, it tends to make most feel like what's coming next is hard. Programming IS hard, but it's hard work, not hard to understand. Jon goes on to point out many places in which programming terms have very literal meaning, yet confuse many students and some professionals alike. He attempts to dispel the idea of tricky programming concepts and shed some light on the subject.
